MCRT in Clinton, MA work has started!

Clinton Greenway Conservation Trust is pleased to share that initial work has begun on the MCRT – Clinton Section.  We have divided our project into two parts because the areas are so different and will be worked on by different crews.

THE TUNNEL
1100 feet long, this long-abandoned tunnel was found to have some loose shale and water that both require some remediation.  The first step in this process is a comprehensive survey. The survey crew began their work at the end of November.

FROM THE EAST TUNNEL ENTRANCE TO BERLIN TOWN LINE
This heavily wooded rail trail is an elevated track with sensitive wetlands on both sides of parts of it, and passing closely by several abutters’ homes. On Dec. 1, Dan Murphy and Madeline Blair from Tight & Bond came to Clinton to do an initial GPS mapping of the rail trail and potential access points. They will follow with a comprehensive survey including wetlands marking and trail design. We thought ytou might like to see their initial GPS map along with pictures of our walk – no snow, but a very cold day!
